Description:
The Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO) oversees the operation of the Greater Vernon Diversion and Disposal Facility (GVDDF), located at 120 Birnie Road, Vernon, BC. A program to receive and stockpile recyclable drywall commenced on March 1, 2025 at GVDDF. Recyclable drywall is currently onlybeing accepted from approved commercial customers to ensure that only new drywall and offcuts is present in the stockpile and that the material is free from Asbestos Containing Material (ACM). This material is categorized as Drywall Authorized Commercial and is defined in the RDNO Municipal SolidWaste Management Bylaw as: "…gypsum based building material that has never been used for building purposes and does not contain tape, paint or mud…" It is estimated that between 300 to 600 tonnes of recyclable drywall will be received and stockpiled annually at the GVDDF in the first year of thisprogram. In future years the program may expand to accept larger quantities of drywall free of ACM from additional sources, which may result in potential annual quantities of 800-1200 tonnes. The RDNO wishes to transport this material to New West Gypsum for recycling and is seeking quotations fromqualified Contractors to provide Recyclable drywall Transportation services.
