Alberta Agriculture and Irrigation, Water Infrastructure and Operations Branch (WIOB) is seeking a Mechanical Contractor to provide Mechanical Services for Emergency Generators at various water management infrastructure sites located in Southern Alberta. WIOB is responsible for operating and maintaining the water management infrastructure owned by the Government of Alberta. This infrastructure includes dams, canals, control structures and diversion headworks and includes the following systems and project areas:o Waterton-St. Mary Headworks Systemo Oldman River Dam Projecto Carseland-Bow River Headworks Systemo Western Headworks Systemo Twin Valley DamGovernment owned water management infrastructure in the South Saskatchewan River Basin is valued at approximately $5 billion. Consisting primarily of earth and concrete structures this infrastructure also includes electrical, mechanical, and geotechnical components along with electro-mechanical and geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring systems. Regular maintenance must be performed on these systems, and deficiencies with the major structures and the supporting sub-systems are identified during regular inspection by WIOB personnel.Several critical sites on the projects and systems indicated above have emergency generators installed and integrated into the electrical supply system.
