- The Lunenburg and District Fire Department is a full volunteer department which covers the town of Lunenburg and surrounding areas.\Along with fire and rescue, they also provide coverage in the large harbour of Lunenburg. Both Rescue and Fire suppression, with a 500-gpm water pump and monitor nozzle on the bow, they can provide fire suppression to the many surrounding areas only accessible by boat, as well as the many recreational and fishing vessels that enter the harbour. Water coverage is provided by the Rescue Marine 8 boat.
