Description:
The Town of Amherstburg is located in Southwestern Ontario, approximately 30 kilometers southwest of the City of Windsor and is one of seven lower‐tier municipalities in the County of Essex. The current population of The Town of Amherstburg is just over 23,500.
The Town is seeking Proposals for the provision of Financial auditing services for year-end audits that will cover the 2024 to 2028 fiscal years. This contract will be for a five-year term upon the approval of Town Council.
The audits shall include the examination of records and financial statements of the Corporation of the Town of Amherstburg in accordance with GAAS. The responsibilities of the external auditors will be limited to the expression of an opinion on the financial statements.
The Town uses VADIM software for all of its major corporate financial systems. The current suite of systems includes; general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, receipts, payroll, and taxation billing. Financial statements and budgets are prepared using Caseware and Questica.
The Town issues approximately 9,500 tax bills twice a year and 6,000 cheques annually, with plans to move to EFT. Water and Wastewater are billed and collected through a third-party organization.
