Description:
The Nuclear Development department within SaskPower is planning one of the long-term power supply plan options to meet Saskatchewan-s future electricity demands. This option includes the potential deployment of nuclear reactors and related technologies as zero emission power sources for SaskPower in the future. SaskNuclear, a subsidiary of SaskPower, will serve as an entity responsible for applying for and maintaining the necessary licensing activities related to the nuclear development program.This RFPQ pertains to the evaluation, planning, execution, construction and operation of nuclear reactors and related technologies (the “Project”).The Project is currently in an evaluation, planning, and development phase which is intended to inform a future decision to construct the initial nuclear reactors, with potential connection to the grid by the mid 2030s. Although construction and operating phases for nuclear power will not be executed under the current phase of the Project, significant planning and regulatory engagement will be completed to prepare for those future phases. Moreover, since SaskPower is in the planning phase for the Project, the objective and timing of the Project may vary as it progresses.
