Description:
The Regional District of Central Kootenay (RDCK), in partnership with seven municipalities, is seeking proposals from qualified consulting firms to support the development of a coordinated, regional approach to Indigenous engagement in emergency management. This work is grounded in the RDCK's responsibility under the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (DRIPA) to advance reconciliation through respectful, collaborative relationships with Indigenous Governing Bodies (IGBs), and is further guided by legal requirements under the Emergency and Disaster Management Act (EDMA). The Regional District of Central Kootenay is inviting proposals from experienced consulting firms skilled in Indigenous engagement methods, cultural awareness, municipal governance, interjurisdictional collaboration, emergency management, and project management. The goal is to develop a regional, actionable plan that addresses the eligible activities specified in the Indigenous Engagement Requirement Guideline. Consultants must possess in-depth knowledge and understanding of emergency management, and how it relates to the Indigenous Engagement Requirement Guideline as per the Emergency and Disaster Management Act.
