Summary Details:
Notice is hereby given by the Ministry of Public Safety & Solicitor General (the Ministry), Security Programs Division (SPD), of its intent to direct award a contract to Equifax Canada Inc (Equifax). Equifax provides electronic identity verification (EIV) to validate individuals who seek access to online criminal record check (CRC) services for the Criminal Records Review Program (CRRP). This includes approximately 160,000 employees, contractors and volunteers annually who are required to provide a CRC clearance to work and volunteer with children and vulnerable adults. The current contract between PSSG and Equifax will expire on June 30, 2021.
SPD, with the approval of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, has implemented the British Columbia Services Card (BCSC) as an electronic identification verification method for individuals seeking to access online services to complete CRCs under the CRRA.
It is the intention of the Ministry to adopt the BCSC as the approved method of electronic identity verification for SPD's on-line services for the CRRP. Based on past years, the EIV service may encounter as many as 160,000 transactions annually; however, the number will likely decrease significantly in 2021/22 as clients onboard to the BCSC.
