Description : Background and Purpose McMaster University, in collaboration with the Canadian Centre for Electron Microscopy (CCEM), have a requirement for a post-column electron energy filter and direct electron detector for its Thermo Fisher Spectra Ultra 300 kV scanning transmission electron microscope (S/TEM). The filter enables electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS) and energy-filtered transmission electron microscopy (EFTEM) applications. A high-performance EELS system is essential for advanced materials analysis and to fully utilize the new Spectra Ultra S/TEM being installed at CCEM. The Gatan Continuum K3 HR delivers outstanding detector speed and quality while enabling high levels of productivity and data throughput for EELS. Integration of this system into the Thermo Fisher Spectra Ultra, prior to shipment and installation, is solely available through Systems for Research Corp., as they are the exclusive Canadian distributor for sales and service of Thermo Fisher microscopes, and are therefore the only available supplier of the Gatan Continuum K3 HR system.
