Advance Contract Award Notice:The University of Calgary intends to jointly purchase the above systems with a four (4) year extended warranty from JEOL Inc. The JBX-8100FS Electron Beam Lithography (EBL) high-resolution system will be the core of the nanolithography capabilities in qLab, a quantum devices fabrication facility currently in planning. The EBL will allow for the patterning of nanoscale structures down to scales in the tens of nanometers in silicon, diamond, and other materials. The first and most crucial step in the research lab nanofabrication processes, the EBL defines the ‘mask- that will shield parts of the material during subsequent etching steps which leave behind functional structures or those that will undergo further fabrication steps. Some examples of structures that must be defined are nanoscale optomechanical sensors, photonic waveguides, microwave and superconducting transmission lines, microfluidic channels, and isolated magnetic materials and metals. The JSMIT800HL Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) will complement and provide the desired consistency and compatibility with the EBL system using integrated JEOL Coordinate Linkage software that enables the EBL design files to be imported, granting features such as point and click navigation, batch, and automated imaging. It is a vital requirement that the systems are on the same platform to ensure seamless SEM integration and optimized workflow also allowing the lab to further develop the software...
