- The East Central Region is well positioned for an assessment as they have a high percentage of older Albertans, poor to fair overall physical and functional condition of acute care facilities, and disruption of health care services due to workforce availability, recruitment, and retention challenges with average workforce vacancy rates of 11 to 23 per cent. The East Central Region Rural Health Assessment will provide a practical, targeted assessment of and actionable recommendations for the region's health care needs to complement ongoing work across the Department including system refocusing efforts.
