- On December 15, 2022, the IESO released the Pathways to Decarbonization ("P2D") report which explored how eliminating emissions from Ontario's electricity system could be achieved. Among the study findings, it noted that attaining a decarbonized electricity sector by 2050, alongside aggressiveelectrification, would require a system more than double its current size at an estimated cost of around $400 billion.As the IESO continues to explore pathways to decarbonization, it is broadening its study of estimated costs to include those associated with the distribution-connected system. (P2Dexplored transmission-connected system costs.) To support this work, the IESO intends to enter into an agreement with a single service provider to research and report on estimated costs, including how they may be mitigated, as further described in the RFP.It should be noted that this opportunity isonly open to Canadian Businesses (as defined in the RFP).
