- Request for Qualifications (RFQ): Data Collectors: FREP Stand-Level Retention Assessments
The purpose of this RFQ is to qualify Consultants for the following Services: Collecting field data in locations throughout the Province of British Columbia, using the Stand-Level Retention Protocol.The Forest and Range Evaluation Program (FREP) is a foundational element of the Forest and Range Practices Act (FRPA). Its vision is to collect and communicate trusted and scientifically robust natural resource monitoring information to inform decision making and improve resource management outcomes.
The FREP Stand-Level Retention Protocol outlines a methodology for collecting data about stand structure, retained dispersed trees, wildlife tree retention areas, and coarse woody debris within harvested cutblocks. The data collected helps determine whether Forest and Range Practices Act (FRPA) standards and practices are meeting government objectives for stand-level biodiversity.
The Stand-Level Retention Protocol was developed for Ministry personnel to carry out field-based monitoring in the various districts across the province. Qualified data collectors are needed to supplement this effort by collecting this monitoring data where Ministry staff are unavailable to do so.
