  • Description:
  • The Darkwoods Project, at 55,000 hectares, is an initiative of NCC that markets carbon offsets generated from the broader Darkwoods Conservation Area. The Darkwoods carbon project follows Verra-s internationally-recognized Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) for forest carbon projects, and uses the methodology: VM0012 Improved Forest Management in Temperate and Boreal Forests (LtPF) v.1.2. The project has also been certified under the Climate Community & Biodiversity standard (CCB) and the Sustainable Development Verified Impact Standard (SD VISta). For further details see the Verra website for Project ID 607. The Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) has a network of 75 forest monitoring plots in the Darkwoods Conservation Area between Nelson and Creston, BC. The Darkwoods plot network was installed in 2011, remeasured in 2016 and 2021, and is due for re-measurement again in 2026 per the VM0012 methodology requirements. In 2021, a methodology deviation was also applied to improve inventory accuracy using a LiDAR-enhanced forest inventory. This Request for Proposal (RFP) includes three sub-scopes: (i) plot re-measurement, (ii) LiDAR acquisition and (iii) data processing and inventory update. This RFP is designed for consulting companies who can complete the plot re-measurement and LiDAR acquisition between June 15 and September 15, 2026, with final products to be delivered no later than November 30th, 2026.
