Tender are invited for Cultural Understanding Training
Project Description : • Omanitew is a very specialized local cultural training opportunity that utilizes local Cree Elders and knowledge keepers.• The curriculum explores explores very specialized content regarding pre-contact Cree cultural teachings, kinship/family relationships and governance. Post-contact includes learning about the impacts of colonization, including the transmission of intergenerational trauma, and what it means to become an Ally.• Sessions will be held on the land and participants will participate and learn about Cree cultural protocols, teachings and ceremonies, directly from a local Elder.• A grounding in Indigenous worldviews is provided, enabling non-Indigenous and Indigenous CS staff to acquire a deeper understanding of the importance of language, ceremony and other cultural teachings.• Participants will learn to identify how systemic racism continues to affect Cree children, youth, families and communities, with the subject approached in a psychologically-safe environment. • The ministry-s Indigenous Cultural Understanding Framework identifies the importance of Indigenous communities providing the Indigenous cultural training to Children-s Service employees and to ensure the training is more specific to the local Indigenous worldview and communities which CS staff serve.
