Notice Details Fredericton, the capital of the Province of New Brunswick, is located on the east coast of Canada along the banks of the Wolastoq | Saint John River. The University of New Brunswick was founded in 1785 and the city became the seat of the Anglican Diocese in 1845. Less than 100 years into its history, Fredericton possessed the military, scholarly, and religious prestige of its status as a colonial, Protestant city.
