- BACKGROUNDSince its creation in 1993, the Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) has always asserted its position as a Métis government, while the MNO Secretariat, the corporate and administrative arm of the MNO, has been incorporated under Ontario law since 1994. In December 2015, the MNO Act was passed by the Ontario legislature to recognize and accommodate the Secretariat-s unique status as the corporate arm of the Métis Nation. Through its province-wide infrastructure, the MNO delivers a range of programs and services in education, employment, training, housing, health, intergovernmental affairs, and lands, resources and consultation.
In 2023, the MNO acquired the Children and Youth Culture and Language Camp in Burk-s Falls, Ontario. The camp serves as a dedicated space for Métis children, youth, and families to engage in culturally grounded learning, language revitalization, and recreational programming. The camp property requires year-round maintenance to ensure safety, accessibility, and the smooth delivery of future programs.
A critical component of camp operations is the ability to maintain reliable access to facilities during all seasons. This includes the transportation of equipment and supplies, regular site maintenance, and snow plowing during the winter months. Safe and timely snow removal is critical to ensure access for staff, guests, and emergency services.
To support these operational needs, the MNO is seeking proposals for the purchase of a heavy-duty, plow-ready truck. This vehicle will:
