Project Description : The Capillary-Based Nano-Immunoassay unit is used to analyze the accumulation of proteins and serves a variety of projects carried out by neurodegenerative disease researchers at the University.The automated micro-capillary format is unique in the marketplace and allows researchers to use very small amounts of tissue from these diseases; something that was not able to be done with older formats, which in any case have to be carried out manually.The unit can analyze very small sample volumes of three (3) microliters, smaller than conventional western blots, conserving valuable biological materials. These include human brain biopsy samples and punch biopsy samples from rodent brains.ProteinSimple is the only manufacturer to make this unit with the technology covered by US patents 8,021,611; 7,935,489; 7,935,479; 7,935,308; and 7,846,676.
