Tender are invited for Broad Beam Ion Mill System
Project Description : *Note* interested Proponents can download RFP from MERX online bidding system. The University of Calgary is requesting proposals for a broad beam ion mill for the purposes of sample preparation consisting of polishing samples to have a high quality finish for further evaluation and characterization with a Scanning Electron Microscope with cryo capabilities. The system will be used for the preparation of undamaged cross sections of a wide variety of samples including geological materials (including those containing delicate clay minerals and organic matter), polymers, thin films, various composite materials, and any other soft or delicate materials that may be presented and are difficult to section or polish by other means. The System will also need to be capable of performing low-angle ion beam polishing over large areas for the purpose of removing residual surface damage on samples previously prepared by traditional mechanical means.
