Description:
The Berwick Electric Commission (BEC) is a municipally owned electric utility that provides electricity to over 1,600 customers in and to the south of Berwick, Nova Scotia proper. The vast majority of BEC customers are supplied with electric power via metered service, including: a. 1371 Domestic customers (kWh) - billed bi-monthly; b. 180 Commercial customers (kWh) - billed monthly; c. 72 Demand customers (kVA) - billed monthly. While the BEC is planning a technology upgrade to electronic meters that are remotely read and monitored, all of the meters within the service territory are currently read by human meter readers who must physically visit each meter on a monthly or bi-monthly basis (based on the customer type) and record the data from each for processing and input to the customer billing cycle. The BEC is seeking a Proponent to provide meter reading for all metered customers within the BEC service territory on a schedule determined by the BEC. A detailed scope of work is included in this Request for Proposals. The Proponent shall work directly for BEC and it is the intent of the BEC to enter a contract for the work described in this document with the successful Proponent. The BEC reserves the right to terminate or modify the contract under the conditions outlined in this RFP or when deemed necessary by the BEC.
