Description : Central Regional Health Authority (Central Health) is administering this RFP on behalf of RHA and Labrador (RHA) to submit proposals for Baby Friendly Initiative (BFI) Infant Formula. This will be in accordance with the specifications and requirements set out in this RFP, as well as the Public Procurement Act. The term of the agreement will be effective January 1, 2023* for a contract period of two (2) years with an option to extend for an additional one (1) year. * Date subject to change with advanced notice, if required. Background: World Health Organization-s (WHO) Baby-Friendly Initiative Standards The RHA have adopted a Baby Friendly Initiative framework are currently working towards achieving World Health Organization-s (WHO) BFI designation. The RHA actively support, promote and protect breastfeeding as the most advantageous method of infant nutrition delivery. The commitment to this internationally recognized quality standard in mother-baby care is demonstrated with adherence to the International Code of Marketing of Breast Milk Substitutes (the Code) (WHO, 1981), hereafter together referred to as “BFI standards”.
