- Notice is hereby given by the City of Vancouver (“City”) of its intent to contract with Artefactual Systems Inc. for the supply and delivery/provision of AtoM and Archivematica Annual Maintenance Agreement DESCRIPTION/SCOPE: For a number of years, Artefactual Systems Inc. has provided the City of Vancouver Archives with technical support for the Archives- Access to Memory (AtoM) open source description software, Archivematica open source digital preservation software and Ubuntu operating system on which the two applications run. AtoM is a fully web-based, multi-lingual archival description software that was originally commissioned by the International Council on Archives (ICA) to make it easy for archival institutions worldwide to put their archival holdings online using the ICA's descriptive standards. The database at http://searcharchives.vancouver.ca/ is the front/public-facing end of the Archives- digital archives preservation and access system, which uses AtoM. The website is accessible to and used by researchers around the world. Behind the scenes is another application called Archivematica. Archivematica is a web and standards-based, open-source application, which allows memory institutions to preserve long-term access to trustworthy, authentic and reliable digital content.
