- This project consists of two (2) detailed site investigations and a report into the nature, cause and progression of metal corrosion on spillway gate components at both the Oldman River Dam and St. Mary Dam, and assessment for lifespan management of anode beds at the Waterton Dam.The site investigations will include detailed inspections of the upstream and downstream sides of the spillway gates at the St. Mary Dam and Oldman Dam sites, as well as all applicable spillway gate components, with a focus on identifying and detailing the current state of corrosion on these structures, and measuring the extent of change since the last corrosion inspection. The project report will build upon previous corrosion inspections and reporting completed in 2013-14, and 2019-20, and provide measurements for tracking the extent and rate of change in corrosion of metal components. The report should include specific recommendations to prevent or mitigate further corrosion at the Dam sites. The recommendations may be acted on by Water Infrastructure and Operations Branch to reduce or prevent future gate corrosion as well as recommendations on monitoring and evaluation methods which may be employed by Water Infrastructure and Operations Branch to reduce or prevent future corrosion.a)Project Background - The Oldman River Dam (ORD) is located near Pincher Creek, Alberta and was constructed between 1988 and 1991.
