Description:
VGN Resources Group Inc. (VGN) will be the Program Administrator for projects under the Ministry of Agriculture and Food's (Ministry) extension programming for environment and climate change. This RFP and project is administered by VGN on behalf of the Ministry.

Climate change is likely to exacerbate agricultural production risks, such as drought, flooding, and the dispersal and establishment of new and emerging agricultural pests. Real-time weather monitoring is crucial for on-farm decision making, which is made possible through the province-s existing agricultural weather monitoring network.
The existing network has been operated by the Irrigation Industry Association of BC (IIABC) since 2016, and the network-s website called Farmwest.com operated by the Pacific Field Corn Association (PFCA) since 2001 with funding contributions from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food (AF). Both IIABC and PFCA are non-profit organizations.
Through this Agricultural Weather Monitoring project, the Ministry is intending to hire a contractor to: Transfer the agricultural weather monitoring network from IIABC to the Contractor to perform administration, operation and maintenance of the network going forward; Develop and maintain a centralized agricultural weather monitoring network; Develop, administer and maintain a new AF-owned website for the network; and Expand the network in a coordinated way, according to provincial priorities and requests from regions.
