Description:
This Request for Supplier Qualifications (“RFSQ”) is an invitation by the City of St. Albert (the “City”) to prospective respondents to qualify for eligibility to provide Access to Information and Protection of Privacy (“FOIP”) Support Services as further described in Section A of the RFSQ Particulars (Appendix A) (the “Deliverables”).
In the spring of 2025, the province of Alberta will proclaim two new pieces of legislation to replace the current Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (the "FOIP Act").
In summary:
Bills 33 and 34 will come into force in 2025 which is also when the supporting Regulations are expected to be enacted. In the interim, the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (“FOIP”) will continue to apply. There will also be a transition period for public bodies to adjust to and comply with the new legislation and regulations. A timeframe has not yet been confirmed and public bodies will be bound by implementation timelines. The province is expected to provide more information to public bodies, including new and updated reference guides and resources prior to the bills coming into force.Due to these changes, the City is looking to pre-qualify qualified firms for the following provisions, on as needed basis, including but not limited to:
The creation of a Privacy Management Program including all documents as required by the new proposed legislation including but not limited to the review or replacement of current policies...
