Detailed_Description : Detailed DescriptionPublic Health Ontario (PHO) believes that the following procurement qualifies as a sole source or single source procurement. The purpose of this Advanced Contract Award Notice (ACAN) is to determine if there are other bidders capable of meeting the requirements of the procurement for the following supplies for PHO.Vendor: Somagen Diagnostics Inc.Products: Automated Rapid Plasma Reagin (RPR) Assay SystemPurpose: A Health Canada approved fully automated Rapid Plasma Reagin (RPR) stand-alone assay system to perform qualitative and quantitative non-treponemal flocculation tests in human serum or plasma, including all computerized hardware and software to manage the instrument and all replacement parts required and technical support.Public Health Ontario Laboratory is the only laboratory that performs confirmatory testing for syphilis in the Province of Ontario. The rapid plasma reagin (RPR) test, in conjunction with the Treponema Pallidum Particle Agglutination (TP.PA), is used as a confirmatory test following a reactive syphilis screening test. RPR testing is crucial in the diagnosis and monitoring of new and previous syphilis infections.PHO believes that the above stand-alone assay system is the only assay system for this use which is approved by Health Canada.PHO intends to award a 3-year term contract to Somagen Diagnostics Inc. for the products described above.This request does not constitute a call for tenders.
