Project Description : The County of Northern Lights is seeking contractors with experienced, project Leadhands, or Project Coordinators, Operators, and Equipment to assist the County on site specific Road Repair Construction Projects within the County of Northern Lights geographical area. Reporting to the North and South, Road Area Supervisors. Sites can be located anywhere between Hawk Hills north of the Town of Manning, to the South border (Township Road 840) north of Hwy 2 near the Town of Peace River. During the 1970 and 1980-s it was common practice to leave topsoil and organics below road embankments. In many locations across the County these organics have made their way up through the road and show up on the top of the road as soft spots. If the ditches beside the road have trapped water, the soft spots continue to cause holes in the road well into the summer. This project is to repair these spots. The work will consist mainly of soft spot repair, centerline culvert replacement, and small drainage improvements. The repair method will be to excavate the soft spot a minimum of one meter depth and if organics still remain place a geotextile fabric and build the road embankment back up. The proponent will work with the road supervisors in locating borrow sources and disposal locations close to the soft spots. Fabric will be purchased by the County.
